Biography
Dr. Pilar Cabrera Fonte is a writer and scholar born in Mexico City, Mexico. Her research focuses on Cuban literature, and she is the author of the novel Camelia 12, a biographically-inspired tale of immigration between Cuba, Mexico, and the U.S., which was awarded the Premio Juan Rulfo para Primera Novela in 2022 by Mexico Institute for Fine Arts and Literature, INBAL. She has also written various articles, short stories and a literary translation for the collection Antes y despu茅s de Dr谩cula (1998). She has also contributed book chapters to the collections Virgilio Pi帽era. El artificio del miedo [Virgilio Pi帽era. The Artifice of Fear] (ed. L贸pez Cruz, Humberto. 2012); Alternative Communities in Hispanic Literature and Culture (eds. Casta帽eda, Luis, and Javier Gonz谩lez, 2016) and La Futuridad Del Naufragio: Or铆genes, Estelas y Derivas [The Futurity of the Shipwreck] (Lupi, Juan Pablo and C茅sar Augusto Salgado, eds. 2019).
