Theatre Dives Into World of Dungeons & Dragons With She Kills Monsters

March 31, 2026
She Kills Monsters Theatre Department

The Theatre Department presents She Kills Monsters, a high-octane dramatic comedy by acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen. Directed by Augustana alumnus Jeff Larson 16, the production runs from Thursday, April 16, through Sunday, April 19, at the Theatre.

A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister refuge. Laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture, the play is a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

She Kills Monsters Play

Working on this show has been such a delight. Ive loved the opportunity to work with such talented students, both on stage and behind the scenes helping this incredibly vibrant and beautiful world come to life, said Larson. This play is an exciting opportunity for people who are interested in stage combat, lavish costuming, thoughtful world building and a heartfelt story. She Kills Monsters has proven to be a crucial play for exploring what it means to be a member of a community that is accepting of others.
