The Theatre Department presents She Kills Monsters, a high-octane dramatic comedy by acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen. Directed by Augustana alumnus Jeff Larson 16, the production runs from Thursday, April 16, through Sunday, April 19, at the Theatre.
A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister refuge. Laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture, the play is a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

This play is an exciting opportunity for people who are interested in stage combat, lavish costuming, thoughtful world building and a heartfelt story. She Kills Monsters has proven to be a crucial play for exploring what it means to be a member of a community that is accepting of others. We have a short time on earth and this play reminds us to fill our days with quality moments and those that fill our cup.
